What The Plugin Can Do
This plugin is designed for practical WordPress migration and restore jobs, including:
- Moving a website to another hosting provider
- Moving a website to a different domain
- Restoring a backup on the same host and same domain
- Restoring a backup on a different host with the same domain
- Restoring a backup on a different host and different domain
- Recovering websites after problems, failed changes or damaged installations
- Cloning live sites to staging or development environments
Backup Format
The plugin uses a structured backup format based on:
database.sqlfiles.zip
These files can be combined into a ready-to-use wpem-backup.zip package for upload and restore.
Typical Migration Workflow
- Export the website backup from the source website.
- Prepare the target WordPress installation.
- Adjust hosting limits if needed using
.user.ini. - Activate your Pro license.
- Upload
wpem-backup.zip. - Run restore.
- Allow the plugin time to complete database, file and URL replacement.
- If required, update
wp-config.phpwith the restored table prefix. - Log in again and carry out final checks.
Important Setup Note
For larger backups, server limits may need adjusting before upload and restore. Example .user.ini settings:
upload_max_filesize = 2048M post_max_size = 2048M memory_limit = 2048M max_execution_time = 1800 max_input_time = 1800
As a guide, limits should be at least 3 times the size of the backup ZIP file.
Important Restore Note
After restore, WordPress may require the restored database table prefix to be set manually in wp-config.php. If the restored website uses a different prefix from the fresh WordPress installation, you must update $table_prefix to match the restored tables.
In some cases users may temporarily experience a blank screen after restore until the correct prefix has been updated and they log in again. This does not always mean the restore failed, so always allow the plugin enough time to finish its work before taking action.

Eligible Pro customers receive access to the EasyWpTools Support Hub for setup help, migration guidance, troubleshooting information, updates and product resources.
